Before becoming the Director of University Advising, Ruthie served as the academic counselor for the Academic Counseling and Advising Center and prior to that program coordinator for the Auburn University Learning Communities. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Presbyterian College, Master’s degree in Counseling from Auburn University, and PhD in Higher Education Administration from Auburn University. She has three daughters and a wonderful husband, Jay.
David works in the exploratory center serving the upperclassmen students who have been referred by their college. David grew up all over the state of Alabama, but calls Auburn home. He spent several years working as a Resident Advisor and Hall Director with Auburn’s on campus students, while earning his Bachelor and Master of Education. David thoroughly enjoys helping students get the most out of each and every 00:01 they have at Auburn. In his free time he enjoys exercise, Auburn University athletics, photography, and adventures of all kinds. War Eagle!
Michael Allen is the Academic Advisor for the exploratory majors in the Exploratory Advising Center. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in English from Auburn in 2013 and a Master’s degree in Higher Education Administration from Auburn in 2014. Michael decided to pursue a career in academic advising during his senior year at Auburn, when he worked as a Peer Advisor for the College of Liberal Arts. He enjoys spending time with his wife, Michelle, and their dog, Norman.
Zandra joined the Department in 2012 as Administrative Support Assistant. Her amiable and outgoing personality is valued by all. Zandra earned her Masters of Science in Counseling Spring of 2016 from Faulkner University and her Bachelor’s in Business Administration from Faulkner in 2013. Zandra is an Auburn native and has been employed with Auburn University for over 19 years. She is active in her church and community, the wife of Terence Davis and is the proud mother of three wonderful daughters.
Mike is an academic advisor for serving the upperclassman students who have been referred by their college to the center for collaborative academic advising and career counseling. He is from Demopolis, AL where he graduated from Demopolis High School. He received a football scholarship to attend Belhaven College where he played two seasons before transferring to Auburn University. Mike received his bachelor’s degree from Auburn University in Interdisciplinary Studies with concentrations in Math and Exercise Science. Mike co-created the Summer Tutoring/Coaching program and currently teaches one section of Study Smart through Academic Support. When Mike is not on campus he can be found on the grid iron coaching football and baseball for the Beauregard High School Hornets. War Eagle!
Marissa serves as the Career Counselor within the Exploratory Advising Center. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Sport Management in 2013 from the University of Florida and graduated with her Master of Education in Higher Education Administration and Sport Management here at Auburn University in 2014. Marissa truly enjoyed her graduate school experience, working within the Office of Student Involvement and the Office of Student Conduct within the Division of Student Affairs. Previously, Marissa oversaw the new student orientation program at Columbus State University, and started back at Auburn University in October 2015. She has a passion for working one-on-one with students and has interests in orientation, transition, retention, as well as career readiness and major exploration. During her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband Joe, one-year old puppy Harper, and Crossfit.
Deb is an academic advisor serving upperclassmen who have been referred by their college. She earned a Bachelor’s from Cedarville University and a Master’s from The University of Iowa, both in Physical Education. Deb comes to Auburn with nine years experience in advising, and she is definitely excited to continue serving students here at AU. Originally from the Midwest, she is thoroughly enjoying all things southern, especially sweet tea, BBQ, mild winters and y’all’s accent. Deb loves chocolate, hiking, yard work, reading, and most of all friends and family.
Judy is the Retention Programming Coordinator. She works with retention initiatives, academic advisor training/development, and Tiger Advisors. An alum of Auburn University with a Bachelor’s degree in Family and Child Development, Judy began her academic advising career in the College of Human Sciences and continued advising in the College of Liberal Arts for a combined total of 13 years before moving into retention programming. She enjoys assisting college students with academic concerns and helping academic advisors grow professionally.
Meredith serves as an Academic Advisor within the Exploratory Advising Center. Prior to returning to Auburn in 2016, she served as the Coordinator of Student Organizations and Leader Development at Baylor University. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication Studies in 2010 from the University of Tennessee-Knoxville and her Master of Education in Higher Education Administration from Auburn University in 2012. During her time at Auburn, she worked within the Office of Student Involvement, specifically with the University Program Council. She has a passion for helping students find their place on campus, first year programs, and student leadership. In her free time, she enjoys a good book, staying active, and college football.
