Welcome to the Exploratory Advising Center!

The Exploratory Advising Center is the place for incoming freshmen who are in the process of determining the right academic path to follow at Auburn. In the Center, first-time college students are advised by cross-trained advisors and career counselors who provide intensive and personalized advising designed to help them choose the major that most closely meets their academic aptitudes and interests as well as their long-term goals. This option does not replace undeclared major options such as in Liberal Arts, Sciences and Mathematics,or Engineering. Instead, its goal is to assist students who are uncertain which broad academic area they wish to pursue. More information is available on our Exploratory Major handout. All students who enter Auburn University as Exploratory students must select a college or specific major by the end of their second semester. Students who enter Auburn as transfer students are not eligible to enroll as Exploratory. Transfer students are encouraged to seek support through Academic Support Services and the Auburn University Career Center.

Exploratory Advising Center also advises upperclassman students who have been referred by their college to the center for collaborative academic advising and career counseling to determine the next steps of their academic pursuits. The center provides a positive and supportive network of academic counselors, career counselors, and academic advisors to assist students in determining the best course of action for them personally.

NO SHOW POLICY

Effective May 2017, the Exploratory Advising Center has implemented a no-show policy for students who meet the following criteria:

  • Do not show for their scheduled academic advising, career counseling, or academic coaching appointment
  • Are 15 minutes late to their scheduled appointment

This is in response to our influx of students and our desire to serve our student population in a timely and effective manner. The no-show fee is $20 and will be applied to your individual eBill through AUAccess.

In the event that you are unable to attend your scheduled appointment, you will have up until the start of the scheduled appointment to call the Exploratory Advising Center to reschedule your appointment. Failure to do so will result in the application of the no-show fee to your account.

We request that you reschedule your appointment a minimum of 24 hours in advance to allow another student to take that appointment slot.

If you have any questions, please call the Exploratory Advising Center at 334-844-7277.
